follow these instructions to disable automatic restart
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... may13.mspx

Also review the remaining paragraphs for tips on what could be wrong.

After you've disabled the auto-restart you should see an error message (most likely a Blue Screen of Death BSOD message)

Post the error message in it's entirety.

Heres the error code after i disabled restart :) 0x0000007a c0xc03e0bb4 0xc0000185 0xf82eddf4 0x0c726860

before this it tells me if this is the first time you see the message just restart.

Then tells me if I added any new hardware remove them and if i cant log on normal go into safe mode and remove the hardware.

After that it tells me to disable shadowing memory and memory chache.

Are you using any SCSI devices, (hard drive, etc?). The error codes indicate this is the cause:
Quote:
STATUS_IO_DEVICE_ERROR, caused by improper termination or bad
cabling on SCSI devices.

\\edit -- just saw your post. Glad you worked it out.

Check if the problem started after you installed any particluar software or after Windows Updateif so uninstall the software. You can also try by restoring system to a date when your computer was working fine. Also check for viruses
