my computers lag spikes whenever i load something

whenever i load a program my computer takes like 10 seconds to load paint etc....my computer has never done this before and when i play games i reach 100 fps but its never stable it drops to like 60-70 fps and my screen completely freezes.

Disable some of the startup programs in msconfig. There maybe a conflict.

Either that or some of the games are using a lot of memory.

i end every non-needed processes before i play games and i dont have even over 40 processes....the games arre very old and they still run slow idk wtf is wrong..

If you don't think it's a memory problem, go back to my first suggestion and disable some startup programs. Did you install anything around the time the problem began or maybe a Windows update? There could be a software conflict. That's what I'm trying to find.
