Okay, so I just picked up a machine from a customer, running windows ME. The _restore directory is loaded with about 159 instances of a worm/bagel virus. The customers AVG virus program finds it, but is unable to do anything about it. This should be interesting. :) Ive not seen a virus plant itself there before, anyone ran across this?

'evenin Ragnar78. Yep, Ive been to mcafee.com and gotten stinger, which has gotten a bunch so far. Problem is the one bagel version is especially nasty and has itself in a hidden directory under the root that wont allow itself to be made visible or allow delete.

Ah Hah! These nasties keep themselves alive by being involved with windows system restore. You have to temporarily shut down system restore in order to get the viruses out and then turn it back on. :)

And MS knows about it. Here's the knowledge base article link.
