Hey, I am new to this forum and I was wondering if you guys could help?

I think my Default Gateway has a problem. I cannot click into some google links, msn won't sign in. I read somewhere its due to faulty microsoft registry and I am scared.

Is there anyway I can fix this?

What Operating system/service pack?
Wireless or ethernet cable?
Can you think of anything that happened just prior to when this started, or changed that might have caused this?
Have you tried other browsers besides IE, like Firefox?
Are you using a router? If so what brand?

Go to start>run
Type CMD
At the prompt type: ipconfig /all

Post the results from your wireless card.

Actually you are using a router. The Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 is a Linksys router. Maybe it was just not powered up when you were having the problem.

first of all check the power of the router , should be on.

the power of the modem should be on.

connection should not be disabled.

the ip address should be correct.

Well hello Lindsay, i have been experiencing the same thing along with others, so don't feel alone. Now I am not completely done with fixing mine but i do know that there is problems with my registry due to Trojan a while back that had gotten into it and it had basically deactivated all my drivers (even though they are showing they are installed) and i have been working with my computer manufacturer & Microsoft to validate my software to get actual valid installs

and your default gateway is located on the back of you modem (well it should be, that's were i found min and other peoples i have helped that have a modem connected to an Ethernet. Well good luck and hope you get it taken care of for sure! :)
