Post 3+ Months Ago

I got my new computer <hurrah> and it has 2 partitions. one 10 gig, and another 240. All the programs are always intalling on C drive, this is the 10 gig drive. I want to make the defualt install drive, "e" or the 240 gig as the defualt install drive.

I know that you can set the path to a different drive in some install programs. *note some, but not all. I currently only have 7 gigs left on the C drive. Its only containing the xp os install.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

Change installation Program File path
-------------------------------------------------
By default, most programs written for Windows will install to the folder "c:\program files." However, if you have a second hard drive or volume that you would prefer to have programs install to, you can make a Registry change that will help.

- Opent the Registry (Warning: Make sure to backup your registry before u make any changes)
- Click Start - RUN
- Enter Registry
- Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion

- Edit the value next to ProgramFileDir ( By default is C:\Program Files)
