Ouch! It's possible. There are many utilities available for recovering deleted files. Most are not free.

This one is although I have never used it.

When a file is deleted, the actual data remains but that space is made available for other files to occupy.

You should try to recover your files as soon as possible. The longer you wait the chance increases that other files will overwrite the space your deleted files now occupy.

good luck.

If that doesn't work for you, a google search for "file recovery" should turn up other options.

To doublu-up what JrzyCrim said, don't install any software, save files etc...and if it's possible for you to do so, try to save or download the file/s to another computer than the one with the problem. The more you do on the one with the problem, the less chance you have of recovery.

I downloaded the PC Inspector File Recovery utility and gave it a try. It seems to work pretty damn good. It installed quickly with no fuss. I deleted a few files, moved a couple around, and then ran the program. On top of the recently deleted files, it found loads of other things that I haven't seen in quite some time. The 'search' feature is very nice. You can search for a specific file or use wildcards for a more general search. I tried a search for *.jpg and it found many deleted images. I would definitely recommend this utility.

Although it may find lots of files, they all may not be recoverable.
