I have a lap top using windows 2000 and the ability to have desktop wall paper has been disabled

anyone know how to enable it

Are you on a Windows 2000/2003 server network? or is your laptop a stand-alone?

Actually you have to fix this in policies
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
System]

You should find under this key 2 values
Wallpaper and Wallpaper style...
if these are there then you cannot change the background unless you remove both those values

(If this info can hurt network Admins work...please remove my post, thx)

I forgot...you might not be able to change the registry...so it might not work

But if he is on a Network With a Domain Controller when the Logon scrip executes it changes the bagkgroud to a default. I used it at my school the students werwe not able to keep their background they selected. there is no way around it the logon script changes it no matte what.
