Difficult and slow to open MS Access file over my network

I am running XP and have a working wireless network. I can successfully open files to all my Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel. However on my win 2003 server when I try to open an Access file over the network Even if I move Access files into a shared Excel folder I still cannot open them.
once it open, but took hours to open, and if I click on a menu it takes hours as well to open.
Please help and thanks for your attention.
