Upgraded to XP Pro Sp3 for a new antiviris. After the UG I lost my user as it booted back up in the "administrator" account. My other machines lost their shared folders through mapped drives to the databases on my machine. Of course, I could not find the user files and folders on the desktop.

I noticed my computer name was incorrect but the domain CEFS.local was correct. I added this to the computer name and joined the domain. My shares work now.

However, I want my files and the associated programs installed under the user.

Incidentally when I performed SP3 upgrade I was in the user account "cefs" with admin rights.

I do not have a physical server. I ditched Business Server 2003 after it crashed. All my computers have worked just fine without it. My Gateway Router does the DNS for me. We use the internet and webmail from our internet domain.

Any ideas on how to get my desktop back with all the folders and files I had loaded on it? Things like associations to pdf software are not working in the administrator account like they worked in the user area. I am afraid I am missing some other installed programs that were installed in the user area.

I did roll back the SP3 install and still nothing.

Are you saying that the account is still present but that you cannot access it? or that the account is missing?
