I'm in Germany and a friend of mine contracted a U-Kash trojan on her computer. It refuses me access to the desktop or any of the contents of the hardrive or admin tools. I can get into the ms-dos prompt in the Vista safe mode. I know this is an extremely old trojan and the fix is in the x32 version of the microsoft malicious software removal tool. I can hook her hardrive to my computer safely and want to find a way to get that dirty little trojan off of it. The only thing i can think of is to put the x32 microsoft tool on it and execute it using dos. Any ideas?

I say go for a format.

= ) Maybe she has more junk than that one virus? A format should clean her computer. People usually has nothing of importance on their computers anyway. :D

Or else you can burn a rescue CD of some sort.

You could google "windows rescue cd" or "windows virus rescue cd".

If you can hook her hard drive to your PC safely then you should be able to run any myriad of cleaning tools to clean it up and they don't have to be DOS capable.

MalwareBytes
Combofix

Those two should work just fine.

Thanks grinch. I'll try that out. Everyone else has good ides's. I really wanted to just make a rescue CD ... but ALAS I'm out of cd's haha. I also recommended the format; however she needs some things off of it for school. They're in German so I don't know exactly what it is that she needs. I'm going to end up cleaning in, ghosting it, and getting her a new hard drive and some ram.
