Anyone knows a good free program to monitor employee Internet activity? We want to monitor the duration and where the on the web the employee is surfing. If free ware is not possible then any cheap program that will do just this will be fine too.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

I guessed what we're looking of is basically monitor Internet Explorer activity. We like to know where, when, and how long the employee spend his/her time surfing the net. We don't want to monitor any keystroke. I like to know if there is a free ware with only this capability.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

We are part of a university network. We get our IP address and access the Internet through the campus network. However, we do have our own domain server for all our workstations.

Are you using a proxy? Lots of great information in a proxy and it doesn't record sensitive information.

It sounds like you're on a shared connection and you would like additional control of your users. A proxy will improve performance for your end users, provide a central point of control, and provide you with log files suitable for your original request. The Apache HTTP server works well as a proxy and meets your budget.

Thanks! I'll take that into consideration. However, at the moment my supervisor has suspended the quest...so until then..I"ll wait.
