Error message,, sys 32 missing

I have a freind that has a Dell with XP, last night it would not boot up and the meassage "Windows could not start, file missing <Windows Root>-system 32\ntoskrnl.exe Please reinstall File" How can he reinstall it when the recovery disk he received with the computer won't even boot up?

then i guess he requires another recovery disk?! :)

He needs to change the boot order in the BIOS to have it boot to the CD first instead of the hard drive. Most Dells default to the hard drive first. When you see the Dell Logo when you first boot, you can enter the BIOS by hitting F2 (F2 is the most common for Dell, but it can also be the DEL key or F1 key).
