i had a bad virus atk and so i formatted and reinstalled windows again.

i got things loaded again and installed VLC like usual, but when i open any media file nothing happens. Only way i can get media files to play in VLC is if i load VLC and then drag and drop the file into it or file open.

really not sure what has happened, i am sure i installed the same widows that i have been using for months.

any idea's where to look to sort this?

Right click the file, select "open with" then browse to and choose VLC, and select the option to always use this program to open this type of file.
