This is an annoying problem. The scroller on my mouse doesn't scroll the web pages up or down on Firefox, but in IE it works just fine.

I don't know if it's with Firefox, or my system, but I DO know that the scroller worked on Firefox before, right after I removed about 100 viruses, but then it stopped working again.

This problem might be an easy fix but I don't know how to. Thanks.

Have you tried re-installing FireFox?

No, and the reason why I didn't was because it never worked. Whenever I first installed it the scroll didn't work already so I started clicking on the scroller and dragging the page down. I'll try to re-instal it.

A bit off the wall and not sure that it will really solve the issue but have you checked for updated drivers/software for your mouse?

One question though. This is a bit confused:

Then on being asked if you had tried reinstalling firefox..

Here what I meant in chronological order. :)

1.) I installed Firefox
2.) Scroll didn't work
3.) Removed about 100 viruses
4.) Scroll started to work
5.) After some time the scroll stopped working

(P.S. How do you use the "LIST" bbcode? :oops:)

Try reinstalling the mouse software/drivers?

The scroll works in everything but Firefox, but I'll try. Thanks.

Hmm unlikely to be the mouse drivers/software in that case really.
You could try opening up firefox, typing "about:config" into the address bar and pressing enter.
It will bring up the indepth configuration of Firefox. Check out these values:
mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines = true
mousewheel.withnokey.numlines = 1
mousewheel.withnokey.action = 0

The settings I have included with them are the settings as on my computer.

I had this problem a while back but I never noticed when It got fixed. I think I must have updated Firefox to a newer version and then It began to work, but I don't think that is your problem. Ill post again if I figure something out.

Thats what I have as well. I also got a news mouse and downloaded the driver for it. The scroll doesn't work anyway.

While we are on the subject, Firefox does not scroll properly using the cursor keys either. One quick example: open a Google search and get a page with the first 100 results. Tap the down arrow and instead of scrolling you are instantly looking at the bottom of the page!

My scrolling problem is fixed after I updated my FIrefox to the latest version. Thanks though guys.

I find it weird steve. It works fine for me. Maybe something is wrong on about:config?

The effect is caused by the so-called Caret Browsing.
It is turned on (and off) by pressing F7.
Reinstalling Firefox (or updating to a new version) does not change your settings, and the effect will not go away.
Just press F7.
