Its a bit odd your comp not recognising your keyboard,
Ttry unplugging the keyboard then turning off the comp, plug keyboard back in and turn the comp back on, see if it picks up your keyboard that way whatlikesit12345.

Tell us also what os your using, this will help other members to help you.
Thankyou.
suzie.

have you looked to see how dirty the port may be? if any dust gets in there it would create a weak connection and you would have to get any dirt outta there. the other thing you could try is seeing if you have a bad port on your computer

I was going to ask If XP has the onscreen keyboard like 2K does, then wondered how that would help in the middle of formatting.
Are you looking to format thinking it will solve your dead keyboard problem?

What windows utility? Are you able to use this keyboard to access the bios settings?

Are your talking about formatting from the Windows CD setup or dos?

If that's what you mean and your keyboard is jacked into a usb hub, this could be the reason it's not working. Also, check your bios to see if legacy usb support is enabled.

Some systems require the keyboard to be plugged into one particular port for legacy support.

Another option is to get a usb>ps/2 converter. They're pretty cheap.

If none of the above applies to your situation, then nevermind...:)

Ive been in the same situation (operating with Win98 SE) and it didnt recognize the keyboard during the uninstall. I got a USB>ps/2 converter, and it worked. GL!

Yes i was talking about to command that the windows cd has installed. I can use the same keyboard in BIOS but not in anything else.

does anyone here have windows 98 that could make me a MS DOS start up disk. then make a zip folder of all the files. and then would be willing to send it to me. I know windows 98 has the format command but not windows XP.

if u want to my e-mail address is whatlikesit12345@hotmail.com

Hy,

Actually, sometime XP dosen't recognize or connect to USB ports.
Its not its fault (if i can put it this way), but the Bios's fault for not correctly configuring at startup the USBs...

It happened to me with a Microsoft Optical Mouse on USB port...the mouse, rarely is not being detected when i get on the Login Screen...
All that i have to do is a restart...

I imagine its the same thing the Keyboard, so download the latest bios for your motherboard...

GL
