i know there have been some posts on this subject. I did a search and found a bunch of specific cases where someone suggested using downloadable software to remove spyware/adware.

My question is...can you please advise on a good free one? I had heard lots about adaware in OZZU...so I went to dl it, and well it wasn't free.

Any and all suggestion are appreciated. If, in my search I missed a string regarding this topic I would gladly follow a link!

Thanks in advance

The skeleton of adaware is free. Its the extra features you have to pay for.

the free version will remove any spyware and will also update.

well I downloaded it from adaware.com and after it installed, and I tried to run it It said it would cost $19.95 to run...I knew that I heard it was free. So, I thought I had checked something wrong. So, I uninstalled it...downloaded it again...and ran it again same thing. I'm guess the best place to get it is adaware.com...

Feeling really dumb that it didn't work...

A good program for spyware prevention is Spywareblaster.

Quote:
# Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
# Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
# Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

SpywareBlaster does not have to remain running in the background.

These recommendations have been given multiple times. The question has been answered and the correct freeware version link was provided by Foxy. Use that one and you'll be fine.
