Post 3+ Months Ago

I am currently in the works in setting up an FTP server. I am using the WS_FTP software ver. 4. I have a Belkin 4 port cable/wireless 802.11b router. I have set one computer outside my DMZ and forwarded my WAN IP 24.154.X.X to my computer's internal address of 192.168.X.X. I disabled my firewall on Windows XP Pro and disabled the firewall on my Router.

Internally you can connect to the FTP server with user authentication of (ex. User/User) I have disabled SSL connections and removed Anonymous connections. I have created only one user for this test of setting up. Currently, i am receiving this error on an external connection:

FTP Folder Error

Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

Details:
The operation timed out

I have tried to look this up in several other support forums. To no avail has anyone been able to help.

I am believing it has something to do with the Folder Home directory that is being created. Any Suggestions will be greatly appericated

What ftp client are you using to connect?

Have you looked through the settings of the server software just to see if you can find anything?

What ports are open on the server machine (make sure ports 20 and 21 are open)

In the first post says that i use WS_FTP ver. 4.0

I have opened ports 20 and 21. i also have forwarded these ports to the main box.

If anyone would like some screenshots i will be more than happy to supply them.

I now am able to transfer files between my office and my Home site office in Maryland. Your Error is listed in RED. You do understand that if you want to download a file from an FTP site you will need a user name and a valid Password. Unless Anonymous Access is allowed. I hope that this information i provided can help you in some way.

I have reinstall my Service Pack 6a and I manage to FTP. However,
when the http and ftp services are started. The FTP Services will
cause the Http services to stop.

I am still using IIS 4.0 and Win NT 4.0.

Thanks.
