XP Pro
Nvidia GeForce FX5200
512 MB Ram
SP2
AMD Athlon(tm) XP, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.1GHz

I'm having some weird side affects from this 2D mmorpg game (I run most 3D games just fine for such an old pc)

I can run the game for about 10-20 mins, then it freezes up. From then on I lose connection to the games server. The following happens to my computer after that...

1. I lose internet connection every time this happens. I share a connection with another computer. ONLY my pc's internet dies. The only way to fix it is to reboot my pc/router or restart my connection to the router. I tried opening up firefox/IE and it says I am not connected, even though my routher light is sometimes on. (the connection light was going out, and I thought my cable was loose or bad, however other games and tasks work fine and I have no problems)

2. The worst being how my mouse freezes up for 10 seconds, in 5 second intervals. It's really annoying. After the game crashes/dc this happens. It's also my keyboard that freezes up or does not respond. The only way to fix this is to reboot.

Again I have run 3D games and have not had anything like this happen. I have run AVG antivirus, and Ad-Aware. I even defraged. I tried reinstalling the game, but doesn't help.

wow. I removed this, and I haven't had any problems so far. I'm going to try and go back to the same spot in the game where I kept having the trouble just to be sure. Thanks for the help.

Any explanation why my internet and mouse/keyboard messes up, and why that would be related to my game dc'ing?

EDIT - Actually it happened again. Someone told me it sounds like a motherboard problem. It's the only thing that explains the internet connection and the mouse/keyboard going out.

The mouse and keyboard can freeze for 5 seconds if your mail client is checking for new mail. What else is opened or running when you are playing?

I disabled the AVG email scan. AVG is the only thing running that i know of, but a few other mmorpg 3D games run fine with or without it on.

If it's an online game, what browser are you using and have you tried a different one?

IE 7, but I didn't think that browser mattered because this isn't a browser based game. IE 7 is set as my default.

That's how little I know about games.

Look at the event viewer for errors.

start, run, type eventvwr.msc press enter.

Do you think in Open Beta, I won't have this problem due to a software update in the game?

http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid= ... ng&phase=1

I always search event IDs at eventid.net

Read those first. I know nothing about games.
