i just bought a new hard drive and tried to install windows xp professional in it for the first time... but I encountered this blue screen error two times already...

"Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"

what can i do about this???

is it possible that there's something wrong my hardware?
i have an intel p4 2.4Ghz cpu, asus p4sgl-vm motherboard(i'm using all its built sound and video) and 256 DDR333 memory....

need help... :?: thanks!

My mom just had a similar problem. Either take it to your local computer shop, or if you registered with your computer dealer (If you bought it from say HP like we did or a similar service) have them send you a recovery disk. Usually they will only charge you shipping and handling. Your local computer shop will charge too much and put a generic version on your computer lacking programs that came pre-installed.. I'm just babbling
