I've never heard of an about:blank virus.

About:blank is what IE uses to show a blank HTML page. Now maybe some Spyware hijacked it.

Get Spybot Search & Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/

install and play with it, it has some neat tools like being able to change browser pages and IE 3rd party extentions and the like. Also I use Norton AntiVirus (My company gives it to me for free). Works great.

Don't worry, me neither.

But here's a solution for W2k, it may work for XP:

Removing the Ā«About:BlankĀ» Virus from W2K

my dear friend, it's quite simple to remove about:blank virus.
just enter your browser in about:blank page, view source code option, paste the res..//...and so one...until the / the go to http://www.simplelogic.com/developer/urldecode.asp and paste the res..//
then press the left button (clean...) it will decode the line take note off the ".dll" file. Then go to windows\system or winnt\system and put it to see hidden files, locate the .dll (it's always a different name.dll) and rename it too something.dll . Then reboot your computer and eliminate the something.dll file.
The next step it's to go to regedit and use find the name of the .dll file and eliminate all the keys.
say something when you finish. good luck :D

Anyway to hack up the about:blank dll to show something cool like the about:mozilla scripture in all the netscape/mozilla/firefox browsers?

Unrelated, but fitting here! :-) If not, feel free to split/move it.
