Windows XP will not open, the message states "the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\ntsokrnl.exe.

I put in my Windows XP cd and clicked on "Recovery Console." It asked for my administrator's password, I do not remember it.

Please help. :(

Try leaving it blank and hit enter. By default XP Home doesn't assign one unless you intentionally put one in.

I left it blank and hit enter, but it didn't progress. I assume that means I did put a password in there. I do not remember. Is there anything else I can do?

I appreciate your help.

Thank you.

So you gave an admin password and dont remember it? or left it blank during installation and still it shows "wrong password"?

In case there is no admin password at all you can set up XP bootdisk and try to reinstall Recovery console.
