I can't open the folder "my computer" or any other thing that can change the system, the only thing that works is if I use a multi media player or any other program that's not affected.
Any ideas, I've been up all night trying to figure this out, its not a virus I've scanned it.
so any ideas what might be the trouble?
I've updated the win XP to, run a new installation.
Might be a hacker?
Any advisment?

Sounds like a virus to me. First guess would be MSblaster. But not sure. I can see the details you tried to give, but it sounds like the virus is resident in the master boot record at first glance.

Probably explore is having some hard times working with folders...

Can you tell me the error message that it gives you when you try to open "My Computer"?

The other progs are not attached to explorer file handeling (probably if you wanna save though) this is why they work...

And last thing but i'm not sure at allthat this might be the cause...are you using the pc as admin user?

If you are running Norton it should have caught the virus. This type of situation is an example of why its a good idea to have 2 hard drives and keep one of them as a backup drive. That way u can keep all of your important files when u have to wipe the main HD to get ride of a virus. My suggestion is probably just an easy way out, but i would just wipe the HD and reinstall. Wipe/Zap/Fdisk/Format.
