Just to note I downloaded and ran adaware and search and destroy before this like it said.
After booting I get a popup along with a command(i think) window the popup says
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
C:\\Windowsystem32\wuauclt.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encountered illegal instruction
CS:11f0 IP:0100 OP:ff d8 e0 00 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application

"Close" "ignore"
If i ignore the box remains there if I close the box dissapears for roughly 30 seconds before reappearing with the same error
this started today when I booted and I am unsure what to do because I system restored to yesterday and nothing changed. I also f8ed after rebooting and went to last known good configuration Ive done it all!
I hope im not violating the forum rules by posting this wrong if so please move it to the appropriate area but thanks in advance for all the help I am so confused at what to do....

wuauclt.exe description: This is the Windows Update client (Windows Update AutoUpdate Client by its full name), which connects to the Microsoft website to download and install the latest updates for the Windows operating system.

have you tired a system restore? or you could try and find the file online and download it to replace the old on

e.g download wuauclt.exe and move it to C:\\Windowsystem32\

well I system restored after checking/fixing errors and nothing seemed to change i lost the textbox that stated an error but i still had a command box opening and closing every few seconds.
until i tried to turn on my computer a day ago it gave me an boot menu type screen saying I had an error so i ignored it but it happened everytime i booted so i decided to do a "system repair" which now has caused me to boot normally but when i try to log in it says group client policy directory error or something now so that I cannot log into my account (the only account on the computer) so I am in safe mode currently tryng to figure out what I can possibly do to resolve this since in safe mode it does not let me system restore which I am almost afraid to do again

Uhh... are you sure you're in Safe Mode then? Because Safe Mode does let you System Restore. You shouldn't be afraid to use System Restore. Without it, my computer would still be stuffed (from ages ago).

Try System Restoring to an even EARLIER date.

well the first time i sytem restored i did it to the day before i started having weird error messages and it didnt do anything
the second time i restored to the most recent "system checkup" because i figured that was before i did something to get errors and that was just a disaster now i cant even log on normally but when i try to system restore in safe mode there just isnt a program i even ssearch system restore and it has no results im so confused !
i wish i could be more helpful in describing the issues but i just have no idea what is going on

I try to system restore and it says
"No restore points have been created to your computers system disk"
and I have no options to undo system restore or system restore again

i hate to keep posting but this keeps getting worse
i had been running my computer as it was for a few days with the random error messages and command window popping up because it didnt really effect anything
until now my wireless drivers(i guess) are gone! they just flat out dissapeared so even if i go to control panel network etc there is nothing there.
I have no idea what tto do

agreed. however if you must keep windows, you could atleast download a linux LiveCD to backup any data you have. then reinstall windows.
