Is it possible for my home page to open every time a new tab is opened?

what browser? What version? If you are on IE like I think you are go to Tools>Internet Options>General Tab

Click the Settings button in the Tabs option.
Click "Open home page instead of blank page for new tabs"

I haven't found a way to do it in FF and I seldom play with Opera. Joebert could probably tell you how Opera works.

I use Firefox the latest version. I just updated it today. Or, rather, FF updated itself today :D

Opera opens the Speed Dial in new tabs.

The Speed Dial is basicly a built-in homepage with the thumbnails of up to 9 configurable homepages that take you to them when you click them, or you can double click anywhere else on the Sped Dial & go to your default home page.

Here's what it looks like.

I used opera before :) I new about the speed dial, or rather, I forgot about the speed dial, that would be more accurate. There are some features on Opera that i missed, but I don't remember what they were :) I'll switch back to Opera and see what features I missed that I have on Firefox.

This Ozzu post came quite high up on Google's search results when I was trying to figure out how to have a new tab automatically open the homepage, instead of a blank page, in Opera. I thought it'd be useful to post an actual solution for Opera users, even though the post is an old one.

Visit this operawiki page. At the "Alternate Buttons" section you'll see a link for a button called "open homepage in a new page". Click that and drag the button to an Opera toolbar.

Clicking the new buton will open a new tab with your homepage.

For FF3 users a simple addon will do it:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777

Or you can middle click on the homepage button which seems a kludgy way to make things..

edited to add in middle click method

OperaWiki link:
http://operawiki.info/CustomButtons
it didn't work in Zwirko's post. the button you're looking for is right down the bottom of the page. put it on the right hand end of your tab bar, then right-click the normal + button and remove it.

I still think the new-tab mouse gesture then double clicking a blank spot in the new tab is fastest for Opera. :)

What I've always wondered about this thread is why anyone would want their home page to open every time they opened a new tab to begin with. Is it just me or doesn't everyone else open a new tab in order to open a new website? So what's wrong with about:blank instead of wasting someone's bandwidth? I mean do you seriously look at your home page in any detail every time you open a new tab?
