Hotmail..."IE" cannot display .....

Whenever I go to my Hotmail homepage to see my messages, the "ad" that should be displayed at the top and the "ad" that should be to the right of the screen both display the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" messasge. How do I fix this? All other internet searches are fine.

Upgrade Flash? Or install Silverlight? More than likely the latter
