Almost too silly to ask but irritating anyway. Since upgrading, when I am use IE I am constantly having to turn on the status bar so that I can see the link path when I hover over a link. How can I get it to stay on as default? i have looked in various places including tools.internet options.advanced. anyone?

That's a new one on me - I've never heard of that problem either. UNFLUX's solution is all you need to do. Click, View and make sure Status Bar is "checked" -- if it's not, then click Status Bar once and that should make it a permanent fixture.

Added thought. If you close out IE by right clicking the toolbar icon it may not save your settings exactly as you want them. Close IE by using the "X" in the top right corner.

i had this problem myself when i first upgraded. try this:

open only one instance of Explorer and make the window a comfortable size then check the view status bar, and finally hold down the ctrl key while clicking the X to close it and it will remember the size as well as the setting you have set.

let me know if that worked
