Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of Windows XP showing the zip files in the left hand pain in windows explorer? I just want it to show the folders like in Windows 2000. I thought by associating zip files with a different program rather than windows XP but that didn't work.
Thanks

Hi

I have Winzip installed and I don't see anything regarding zip files down the left either if I have folder view or common tasks view switched on.

Tried a reboot?

DuckIT has what I did. I never use XP's zip function either because I have winzip installed.
Once I installed it, anything to do with windows compression tools vanished. Much nice
I think....try it.

Ok, I'll try installing WinZIP. I have WinRAR installed because it's better but I guess it doesn't fully take away the association in WinXP even though when I double click on a ZIP, WinRAR does open it instead of WinXP.

sorry if this is a really dumb question but when people say reboot do they just mean restart or is it something extra that you have to do?

Once again applogies for the dumbness :D
