how to prevent blaster virus from attacking my system

I had this worm for the longest time before I realized I should get rid of it... 
See http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.mspx It will give you all the info you need and will tell you which security updates you should download. The worm's threat isn't really real anymore though, so you shouldn't be too worried.
