Normally by default Internet Explorer has the persistant connection for your browser set at 2. This means that the maximum amount of items at any time that you can download is 2. So for instance lets say you goto a site that has 100 thumbnails on it. Well now as you watch it load the fastest it will download any of those thumbs on the site, is 2 at a time. That is just an example.

Anyway what you can do is change your default of 2 to anything you want. Here is how you do it:

  1. Start Menu -> Run -> Type "regedit" and hit ok
  2. Browse to " HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" on the left menu
  3. Click on Internet Settings on the left menu
  4. Edit -> New -> DWORD value
  5. Rename it to: MaxConnectionsPerServer
  6. Right click on that entry on the right menu, and select Modify.
  7. Enter a value like between 5 and 10 in there. Hit ok.
  8. Restart your machine.
