Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle. I'm about to re-install win xp pro, something I do every few months whenever things are getting a bit untidy. My main hard disc is a 120g serial ata drive. When I install xp the first thing I have to do is put a floppy in with the serial ata driver on it. The problem is for some reason my floppy drive no longer works, I've tried swapping it for another floppy drive but the same result therefore I'm assuming something has gone wrong with the floppy disc controller on the motherboard. I have put the driver onto cdrom, but when prompted for the driver during installation xp only looks at the 'A' drive, I can't get it to check the 'D' drive.

Does anyone know how I may get past this? Are there SATA drivers in service pack 1? ( I might then be able to create an xp/sp1 installation cd which should work )

thanks in advance

Just incase anyone was wondering, I bought a 3rd floppy drive, it worked fine so I was able to install the sata drivers normally.

cheers
