Whenever I try to install XP Service Pack 1, I get an "Access Denied" message at some point in the process and I'm forced to Undo any changes that the installation made. I checked the log file and it looks like it fails on an "INF_REGISTRY" call though it doesn't give any details about what registry key it's trying to modify. Logically speaking, it seems like I would get that error if my user account didn't have sufficient permissions to update the registry, but my account is in the Administrators group which I assume would have ALL permissions. If that's not the case, I still don't lknow which key it's updating so I can't even check the registry permissions for a specific key.

Any ideas???

Thanks.

Is your version of XP pirated? If so youo will not be able to download SP1. Unfortunately, you won't get any help here on the issue if that is the case.

No... it's not a pirated version. I bought and installed XP Pro about a year ago.
