Okay, Call me stupid after this but this is what happened.

The guy at my office made me change my proxy settings of firefox and the ip address so that my laptop ( windows vista ) would work with their internet connection. At home, I use wireless through a router. Now when i go back home, I undo the office settings, yet still my laptop wont connect to the router. It says ipv4 conectivity limited.
Any help?

Firefox proxy settings shouldn't have anything to do with the NIC connecting to the router. That connection should happen before you open Firefox. Actually, it should connect after you login to Windows.

If you're using wireless at home, disable the wired NIC and set the wireless NIC back to DHCP or to a static IP address, depending on what you use at home.
