You should download FireFox or Opera and use those instead. You will be much happier.

I have about the same problem.... I just hooked up my wifes old computer. It's been offline for about a year and a half or more. I hooked it up and it did its updates and such. At first IE Explorer would open but after the updates, Windows updates, Yahoo updates. IE wouldn't open again. It starts to open but then closes automatcily like a pop up blocker closed it out, no warnings. I found this post and ran that hyjackthis and got this log file. Any help would be apprechiated thnxs in advance.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Ok I deleted said file. Then I try to open Windows IE Explorer and it still closes. I don't even get to see the page it closes so fast. Its like a pop up blocker is closing it.

Not sure what's causing the problem then. It's most likely something that HJT isn't picking up. Do you anything involving international... anything, on your computer?

I've never seen that entry before...

You can also fix this, although it probably won't solve the issue at hand here:

Well I went into the control panel and went to The Help and Support Center and went to Windows updates threw there and found 3 updates that didn't install. From there I got them to install and Windows IE is working fine now. I have automatic updates on but those 3 updates didn't automatcilly come up. And seeing how I couldn't get windows IE to open I couldn't get the updates that way.

Anyhow its working great now and thnxs again for the help.

uninstalled all your toolbars that are for your browser "such as yahoo toolbar"
if that doesn;t work, why don;t you restore your computer to the day before you got the updates. likewise, repost your hijackthis log, it might be helpful for all these people

I have an issue with my IE as well.
It started when I attempted to install the "new tab homepage" addon.
My IE will open but I have no toolbars.
It will not browse (blank page).
Right-clicking the desktop icon and clicking properties does nothing.
Here is my Hijack log:

I would use Firefox (which I do most of the time) but some of my company portal pages require IE and won't run in FF.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
