I have had endless problems with Internet Explorer 8 on WindowsXP. When i open the program a message appears stating that the tab has been recovered but then the window automatically closes.

I have tried to restore the computer to a previous date before i downloaded the product and also tried reinstalling the program over it. When i did this Internet Explorer stated that there was a file which couldn't be moved and that it would have to restart the computer to try and correct it. However i did this and it still has the same problem. Please help!!

You could always use a different browser like FireFox, Opera or Chrome. That is what I suggest. But in the meantime go ahead and download malwarebytes, install and update it and then run it to see if you may be infected with anything.

I use FF and Chrome pretty regularly and I like them both. You can download each one and use them each for a few days and see which one you like the best.

My best guess why IE8 is crashing is because of an Add on. In particular if you are using Google Toolbar, either uninstall it from the Add/Remove programs in your control Panel, or update it to Version 6 which is now available.

If it isn't Google Toolbar it could be any other addon you may have including things like Yahoo or MSN toolbar, etc.

Although this link doesn't answer the problem it does give some info about IE8's new Automatic Crash Recovery.

In Control Panel> Internet Options you could try setting your home page to a stable, simple home page like Google.com and see if that helps also.
