Hi. I have a trouble with opening Internet Explorer. It just closes immediately after it opens. I thought initially it was just IE, but when I tried to open "My Computer", everything closes, the desktop icons and taskbar would dissappear and then reappear. I tried to scan with ad-ware and Norton AV, the problem still exist. Any advice would be appreciated tremendousy. I have attached the Hijack this file also. Thank you.

Well i havent used HJT alot so for a full fix you should wait for JrzyCrim. I do think that
R3-URLSearchHook:(noname){5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - (no file)
And
O16 - DPF: {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} - http://www.addictivetechnologies.net/DM0/cab/p3a23a.cab
Should be Removed.
While im not entirely sure but the BHO list shows only Parasite objects for those. That prolly wont fix it though. (E:\Program Files\Webshots\WebshotsTray.exe is a suspicious file but i dont know how to remove it.)
Naved i also just noticed that you are using an older version of Hijack This. Download the newer version here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
Then Reboot, Scan Again, And Post the new log.

I had the same issue. The problem might be that you do not have the file "msls31.dll" . Go to the following website...
http://www.driverskit.com/dll/M_p9.html
and download this file. Copy it and place it in the system32 folder at...
C:\WINDOWS\system32
This fixed my problem, I hope it can fix yours.

Like Whatswierdnow says you really need to download and run the newest version of Hijack This and post a log here.
I can only see one other thing to add to what Whatswierdnow has tagged and that is this:
O1 - Hosts: 12.129.205.209 search.netscape.com12.129.205.209 sitefinder.verisign.com
I disagree on the WebShotsTray.exe though I think it is safe.
Before you try to remove these if you download the new version we can check for other things and remove them all in one go.

I have a feeling that since this thread was last active in November of 2004, I doubt the origional poster is going to check back now to fix this problem.

This computer has move worms than anything I have ever seen.
I have removed many items from the registry but a few of then are recreated everytime I change them, system restore is off and I get the same results in safe mode.
Examples
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe, C:\WINDOWS\system32\edyof.exe
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,pxgspsx.exe
Also the explorer will open and then close.
I have never used the Hijackthis program before so any help with the registry would be helpful.

Hi,
I got the same problem this morning. Instead of using Hijack This, I logged into administrator account and created a new user for myself. The procedure is given as follows:
Create a New User Profile in Windows XP Professional
1. Log on as the Administrator or as a user with administrator credentials.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click User Accounts.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced.
5. In the left pane, click the Users folder.
6. On the Action menu, click New User.
7. Enter the appropriate user information, and then click Create
The problem for the internet explorer opens and closes immediately may be because of the corruption of user profile. That's the reason that we create a new user here and copy those documents with the ancient user to the new one.
Good luck.
Rebekah
