O.k. I have a problem, I go to a christian college which wont be named but my problem is unique,my school has a filtering system named Filtercube from the company S4F, Since this is a private christian university they reserve the right to limit our web experience to the extent of what they seem appropriate, which also include some custom programs people in the IT department at this university have written to block use of Kazaa and AIM, Last semester I used a program called httptunnel (http://www.http-tunnel.com) to tunnel through the firewall giving me a freely usable connection to the outside, unfortunately the trial version sucks really bad because it limits bandwidth and each of us in our rooms have a 10 mbit connection at our disposal,so limits kinda suck. being the poor college student I am I cannot afford to pay for http proxys pay service,i was wondering if there was some sort of other way to "tunnel" out of the network so i have free , unrestricted access to the internet along with access to kazaa, AIM, BattleNet(for gaming, diablo II etc)Please help,It would be much appreciated.

You can try Googling it and see what happens, or use AIM Express. Kazaa I wouldn't use ANYWAY, it totally ruins your computer. If you do get through, try Kazaa Lite (http://oldversion.com) or WinMX (http://winmx.com)

Ummm...Being a network administrator myself, there are reasons controls are in place - especially for Kazaa. And you, being an attendee of a Christian school, I would also have to assume that you are aware that your attempts to bypass the restrictions set in place by the school's administrator are not at all kosher, and if I was in his/her place and knew what you were attempting, I would have a serious chat with your Dean.

I'd prefer to see this topic did not continue beyond this. If I see that it does, it will get locked.

you could do like i do here at the corporate office and change your port from AIM to port 80... that will work unless they have the actual AIM server blocked... just a thought

not to mention how common these practices are becoming for
schools and such. Institutions like yours are generally some of
the first to get raided.
