Aquired WD80 HDD Tried to format with Western Dig. Tools
Say's Locked by code 220. I contacted MFG w/model&SN# and
they would not tell me how to restore/recover/overwrite code Etc;
I don't know if it is a virus or if the previos owner locked the drive.
I have tried several disk recovery tools including HD Mechanic Gold
with no luck. Is this drive ?/#@!! or what. OS98SE and XP say's no
operating system found or capable but disabled.
I'd like to huck it in the can,but i love to solve probs.
Please help if you can.

You try FDISK with 98sec, reformat it? When you tried it on XP did you mount it first in the computer management section? If so you should have been able to format it then.

Also did you try and make it the master drive and see if it would boot. Where did you get the drive from?
