Hi everyone,

I have a problem and am hoping someone is able to help me.

I was happily downloading stuff from the net this morning. Now, I am unable to see the icons within my folders. I am also unable to close the folder window - it gives me a beep everytime I try closing it.

Could it be a virus?

Please help

Did you simply try rebooting? Perhaps you're just running low on resources - my girlfriend's machine messes up like that when she's not rebooted for a coupla days, but she is on Win98SE.

Hi blacksheep,

I have exactly the same problem as you and I´m wondering if you
have got any solution yet. There is no virus according to my Norton
Antivirus program with the latest updates. It happened to me
also when I was downloading from the net. I am using WinMe.
Please let me know if you have an answer.

Thanks for the advice ModernDestroyer.

I have tried both programs now and they found severel
registry entries and cookies that were suspicious and I have
removed all of them but still no change. Should I reinstall
Windows again or is it something else that causes this problem?

try AVG and see if it finds any viruses other than that I can't think of anything else off hand, you could try reverting back to a saved registry before this happened.

AVG Free Anti-Virus
