Need help with login problem

Hey ive been having this problem for about a month now. I cant log into my Hotmail acounts. Msn Messenger, Aol Messenger, I can log into yahoo messenger beacuse i changed the connections to Firewall No Proxy even though i dont got a firewall. On yahoo chat all i get is loging on for like 5 minutes and then page cannot be displayed. hotmail it just sits there trying to log me in. I cant get into any java chat rooms but i can play any java games i want to play. i cant download windows up date beacuse microsoft keeps saying the update files cannot be found. ive tryed hooking up into some p2p servers just to see if i can connect to them like Imesh and Morpheous but they just stay at the connecting stage forever.

Things i have tryed

Ive downloaded spybot and ran that
I downloaded new versons of Ie and i downloaded Oprea Netscape Mozillia
Ive cleaned my catch files
Ive restored my ie Defaults
Ive downloaded the update files for Java
Ive deleted everything of the computer and ran my Windows 98 Se startup disk
Ive ran a virus check nothing came up
Ive written to yahoo and they tell me to change my colors 256 bit but that dont work
I cant wright hotmail beacuse when i click contact info it freezes.

my computer is
windows 98 SE
iam running Direct x 9
i got DSL through Qwest
Iam hooked up through a eathernet card
IE 6.0
mozzila 1.5
Ive got microsoft vm and Java Sun

Well that was in yahoo messenger where i changed the no proxy to firewall no proxy it was the connection that allowed me to connect well thanks a lot bye Mike

are you running Norton Antivirus or norton firewall? if so try and disable them and see if you can get to your different chat sites.

i have norton anti. installed and i haven't goten any limitations to what i can do on the internet or actually anything

but i've read that norton stuff can give limitations
so thats a good idea
