:? :?

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center

I found a user account with the name NeroMediaUserHome.4 on my system.

I did not create this user and don't know how it got on my system.

See attachment snapshot of windirstat which discovered this user.

This user does not show up in windows user accounts anywhere.

What is going on here?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have Nero MediaHome installed? If so, the application creates this account.

Thanks for you quick reply.

Yes it is installed but don't remember installing it. It must have been part of one of my media players installations.

WinDirStat was used so finding a user installed which I did not create or is not shown under user accounts in windows was a puzzle.

Thanks again.

Could be used as the service account for Nero MediaHome.

My gut feeling is to remove the Nero Media software and the user profile that was created. Must have installed as part of a Media Player (WD or LG)but don't recall. Worse case, will have to re-install
if somehow required.

Have never experienced a program creating a user profile/admin privileges on any system before.

Will wait a few days for any feedback. Otherwise will remove from my system by Friday.

Thanks

Packy

If you don't need it or use it, uninstall it. A lot of applications will create user accounts that are typically used as service accounts. It isn't all that uncommon.
