i know that this problem was posted once at
http://www.ozzu.com/ftopic24580.html

when i turn on my computer an error pops up before windows even starts

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

i'm having the similiar problem but my keyboard cant work.
therefore i cant even boot from cd rom or anything and thus i am unable to use any of the remedy posted previously.

i came up with the idea of using this hdd A (old harddisk) as a secondary hdd and i went to buy a new hdd B.

i installed xp into the hdd B (new harddisk)and use it as primary hdd and hdd B as secondary hdd. Everything was fine and i'm able to use both of the hdd.

The next time i turn on my pc, both the hdd are having the same problem.
the new hdd is only one day old and empty.
the old hdd contain alot of important documents.
i'm desperate.

is it a virus or just a missing corrupted file?
how come it can spread to the new hdd which i just bought?

i need advices and guides badly.
thanks!
All advices and comments are greatly appreciated

I'm guessing you have a usb keyboard. The drivers don't have a chance to load. Try hooking up a standard PS2 keyboard and you should be able to use it then to try the solutions in the other post.

It's posible you have a virus, but not necessarily so. Most like likely the file just got corrupted. Short of reinstalling Windows from scratch, the advice given in the post you referenced earlier is probably the best and easiest way to fix it, but you'll obviously need a keyboard that works. Since your PS2 ports don't work, the only thing I could think to do is run a repair install of XP. If that doesn't work, do a full install. The XP CD should load enough drivers for your USB keyboard to work.

Those are the only ideas I have. You might want to see if others can offer alternative suggestions.

I downloaded a program on my computer to transfer music to my cellphone. (program came with my phone). It then prompted me to restart my computer.Once I restarted my computer the error message came up about windows can not start because of a missing or corrupted file of \system32\ntoskrnl.exe

Also, my keyboard doesnt seem to work either so i have tried to put in my restore cd's and I can't use my keyboard to start the restore. I also tried to put my XP cd in and it does nothing but go to the error message again.

I don't know what to do without my keyboard working
it is a Ps/2 and i thought i would try another keyboard. still didnt work
then I bought an adaptor for the usb port and keyboard still doesnt work.
please help mee!
