please help .i have just bought my daughter a brand new hdd as her old 1 died a death after replacing it in the pc i started to install xp pro it formatted it copied and it restarted only to say corrupt or missing system 32 file ntoskrnl.exe i have looked on many forums but all the solutions talk about is getting a command prompt up .as this is a new installation there are no previous windows systems on the disk also the is no option to recover or repair and so cant replace the file even with safe mode i cant get a prompt because it says windows has not been installed.

Where is the CD that you used to install XP, or should I say, attempt to install? If you have it, do the install again.
