Hi. I found my PIX 515 DES is not enabled. How to enable it?? please help


Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.3(3)

Hardware: PIX-515, 32 MB RAM, CPU Pentium 2
Flash i28F640J5 @ 0x300, 16MB
BIOS Flash AT29C257 @ 0xfffd8000, 32KB

1: ethernet1: address is 0003.6bf6.7a44, irq
2: ethernet2: address is 0002.b3b2.47c8, irq

Besides,
I have another PIX which was DES enable but when I type the following, it gave me the following error

PIX (config)# aaa-server LOCAL protocol local
Unsupported protocol
Type help or '?' for a list of available commands

You probably need a good Cisco forum for this kind of question.

I believe you need to get an upgrade from Cisco to enable DES. Is it just DES or DES3 you need? If I remember rightly DES3 requires you to fill out a form about your business before they give it to you, but its been a couple of years since I tried it so it may have changed.

I'd go onto Ciscos site and see if you can contact them on getting the upgrade.
