Office 2000 or XP on a Windows 98 machine?

I am just curious. I have a comp here that runs windows 98 and I was wondering if Office 2000 would work on it? or Office XP? cuz I have both of those but didn't know if they would be compatitble.

yes office XP and office 2000 are both backwards compatible, but microsoft no longer supports windows 95 ( like an abandoned red heaeded step child! hehe) so i dont think either of those will work on 95. office 2000 came out when ME came out so about 80 - 90% of the window market was using windows 98. it wouldnt make sense for them to write a proggy not compatible with their most recent previous OS.

Edit: sorry corrected where i said wont work on 98 i meant, wont work on 95

When I tryed it, it totally screwed my comp and I had to reformat straight away back to my original 98se.

Thats office XP im talking about

i used office2k on 98 for a long time, worked great. never tried officeXP
tho. I can't see why it would matter, other than 98 not handling
memory well enough.

office XP is running on my win 98 box and it is the finest peoce of software i have ever used. i am swallowing my linux pride by saying that, but it is the truth. if you own XP and do not have it installed, you are REALLY missing out.

i agree. officeXP is by far their best effort for this software suite.
