Board members,
forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere on the forum---I have had very little time to do any searches here or anywhere. My question is quite short and simple. Every time I open a file from within an MS OFFICE program, the dialog box is in the form of "preview"--that is, file name and then a preview. What I desire is to have the open dialog box default to "details" view of files in a given folder.
How can I manipulate this?

Thx

Office displays that dialog based on your Windows Explorer settings. Open Windows Explorer. Open any folder and change the view to Details. Then go to Tools | Folder Options and select the View tab. Click the button that says "Apply to all Folders" and confirm the change. This will, then cause your office programs to open with Details as the default view.

Hmmmmmm,
even after I made that change, it seems in Powerpoint, it always gives me the preview view when I attempt to look in a give folder to open a file.......any ideas?

I closed out of PPT and re-opened but still the same. The change you suggested did work for folders in general.

Any further ideas on this? It seems as if I get the preview when trying to open a file only in PowerPoint.

Any thoughts?

I would have assumed it would have worked for the whole Office Suite. Try rebooting if you haven't and check again.

So I rebooted eventually and still the default view (for PPT) in the open file dialog box is preview. Obviously I can change that to details, but I am curious as to why it happens only in PPT and only when I open a file from within. For example, if I am just exploring my C folders, the default view is whatever I set it to. However, when I open up a file from w/in PPT, I get the view noted above. Not a major issue by any stretch of the means, but just a low-level annoyance I'd like to tweak.

ATNO/TW,
just noticed you are from the Burghtown...awesome, lots of family up there. My home of sorts. Not sure if you are into the Pens, but they are going to look sharp.

Anyway, in addition to further commentary you might be able to provide on the current issue, I was hoping someone might be able to provide an idea on this one.

I currently need to get some pictures extracted from a pdf that is locked (security). I am looking for either a way to get the picture copied (e.g., print screen) or to figure out a work-around to disable the security features of the document so I can use the standard Adobe tools to extract/copy and then save as .jpg through picture editor or what have you. Any ideas, thoughts on this?
