I'm trying to open a drive on My Computer and it is popping up the 'Open With...' screen...

So, what do I open my drives with? I'm talking drives with the number assigned... such as c:\\, d:\\, etc., etc.

Thanks :D

Does the same thing happen if you right click on the drive in my computer & left click on open?

Open explorer, go to folder options, file types. What does it say next to drive? Mine says none. If I click on advanced, it says find.

It does the same thing when I right-click and click Open

At the file types tab in folder options it says 'none' and when I click advance, it says 'find' as well...

And it still does this right now... it's becoming annoying. I can't open my drives!

If I type 'C:\\' or 'C://' into the address bar it opens up bing.com with that as the search term. How annoying.

I seem to remember something about an .inf file causing that. The problem is I don't remember details.

Also, when I try to open a CD it gives me the Search thing... The file search installed with the OS... freaking annoying.

AND to top it off, every time I click the Folder Options, hit the 'View' tab and then select to view the hidden files and folders, it goes back to hide the hidden files and folders and I can never actually see them.

I would really appreciate some help with this. I scanned my computer with Ad-Aware and removed all the infections it found and the computer is still acting up. Anoying.

Thanks for your help so far Don :)

Download, update & run anti malware from malwarebytes.org

If that doesn't do it, do the same with combo fix.

The scanner found and quarantined 56 items but that didn't fix any of the problems... I did that a while ago and it required a refresh so I don't have the log, and if it is saved anywhere, it's probably in the C:// drive which I can't open.

I'm going to try combo fix right now...

[EDIT:] ComboFix fixed those problems though... thanks :D

Here is the log file for it...

I'm glad to hear it's working.

C:\Autorun.inf
c:\windows\system32\amvo.exe
c:\windows\system32\Data
c:\windows\system32\kav320.dll
D:\Autorun.inf
E:\Autorun.inf
L:\autorun.inf

Those autoruns don't belong there. At least I don't have them on my XP box.

Those autoruns came with the drives when I bought them... they are external add-on drives I bought at Best-Buy... at least I think that... I may be wrong though

Anyway, the program removed them and the drives still work perfectly fine, so I guess I don't need them...

Once again, thanks :D

external drives will add those. Personally I think they're a pain in the butt. My maxtor tries to autorun every file on it when I first plug it in, and I have over 300gb of files on it lol. I really should eliminate that myself

Oh, I didn't know what that was about... thought it was the thing that allowed the drive to work... thanks for clarifying that.

That would get annoying lol
