I am running Windows XP home with two hard drives. Can I password protect a whole drive? Also could data such as images be password protected on a cd rom?

Thanks in advance

With XP security is handled by permissions. You assign permissions to users. Right click the drive letter, select properties, then the security tab.

By default "everyone" is set to "allow" for everything. Add yourself and/or any administrators/administrator groups. Check "allow" for everthing for those users. Make sure you've added these first. Then remove "everyone" Again make sure you've added yourself and admins first - if you don't before you remove "everyone" you will lock yourself out). Add any additional users and select "deny" for them.

You can't set permissions for CDROM devices or removable drives. Only your fixed drives that are on NTFS.
