My laptop is both my personal and work system and I think I have a virus on it and I don't know how to fix it. I have Avira and Ad-aware and have run scans but did not encounter anything malicious or depicted as a threat.

My windows updates is automatically turned off each time and after an hour of use, the window freezes and nothing works anymore, not even ctrl+alt+del nor the shutdown option.

I've read that this is a similar occurrence for conflicker, I'm not sure... I'm just concerned because my laptop has sensitive information that will ultimately alter my work trends.

Please help me.

It's a good thing that you have your file backup on another drive. You have them, don't you?

Download, update & run anti malware from malwarebytes.org

Try searching for tools for conficker removing, sometimes they work. Also find the blank line is Start->run->msconfig->Autorun and remove it. This would prevent conficker to run at startup.
Nasty virus!
