Hey guys I've been looking on google and stuff for a few days now but I can't seem to find an answer for my problem so I've decided to make a post here.

The problem is that when I start my webserver(apache) it says that it connects just fine but when I type http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 in my address bar it just won't load.

Anyone got an idea what might be causing this?

You aren't using the correct IP address. In my case it would be http://192.168.0.97

Use the internal IP of your machine. If you want localhost to work, add an entry in the host file.

127.0.0.1 should always work, regardless of any other IP addresses your machine may have. Check if a firewall is blocking Apache. If that doesn't work either, check if there are any port conflicts - by default, Apache uses port 80 (HTTP) but some other program may be blocking that port.

If port 80 were blocked, wouldn't he/she NOT be able to access the internet ... ?

Umm... not that way. The server on YOUR computer runs on port 80. When you connect to a website on the Internet, you connect to that computer's port 80, not your own.
