I was wondering if anybody else has a similiar problem to mine or knows how to solve it. Just recently it seems that everytime I try to view the source of a webpage either by right clicking on the page or going to View->Source on the menu, it refuses to work. Simply nothing happens. I have never had this problem in the past, and it just started recently. The only thing that I can think is causing the problem is Adobe Photoshop 7. That really is the only thing I have installed lately and it seems that I usually have the problems when I have Adobe running, however it is still spontaneous... sometimes it will work, but the majority of the time it will not. Has anyone else had this problem? I am using Windows XP Pro.

although i havent had the exact same problem i have had a similr one where the wrong application opened the source. the fix for it would be to go download tweakui for xp and go to wehre it specifies what program to open veiw source with. ( i use word pad myself) and then that should re initiate your registry key that specifies that... try it and let me know how it worked..

This should fix your problem. A co-student had a similar problem and this fixed it.

I believe I have tried that resolution before however Heman. Next time I have that problem I will try that again. The problem is weird though, it is only spontaneous, but definetely annoying when it does occur as I view many sources all the time. Also it seems most likely to happen if I have Adobe open, althought it still does not happen all the time when Adobe is open. Very weird problem.

IE View Source Fix and Seting up an alternative editor.....

If your having problems viewing source code in IE open your Folder options (Settings - Control Panel - Folder Options) or from a folder select "Tools" then select "Folder Options".

Select the "File Type" tab and scroll down to highlight "HTM" or "HTML" select advance and in the options check to see if "view" is available.

If view is available Highlight and select edit anc check that a valid editor is availble (you can specify one other than Notepad)

If View is not on the list select new type in the action area "View" (no quotes) and then browse select in "Application used" to the editor of your choice.......

PS Hope this helps....

Felix.

Hi

Just to add to all the sugestions here, the main causes for this problem are:

Google toolbar: just disable the ad blocker when you want to view source.
Delete your temp internet files.
some other ad blockers could cause the problem.

Cheers
